Steve & Garry – Friday, December 31, 1982 – “Year in Review” show

So, I was going to do this big “Steve & Garry – 1982 Year in Review” post. Because we posted a couple hundred hours of audio this year mostly in chronological order for the year of 1982. My post was going to include links to all the interesting things that happened with Steve & Garry during 1982. Things like the death of John Belushi, the death of Marcus Palmer, the birth and death of “The Network Show“, S&G winning an Emmy, Steve having a meltdown and then later being attacked in the studio. It was a crazy year.

Instead, here is over an hour of audio from the December 31, 1982 show as broadcast on WLS-FM. Steve, Garry and Maggie do a great job in reviewing the year. Our audio is of most of the show starting around 3:00. The show ended early at 5:00.

Steve & Garry – Monday, December 27, 1982

Happy Holidays everybody!! I hope Santa brought you everything you ask for. Here are Steve & Garry from Monday December 27, 1982 as broadcast on WLS-FM. We have about 65 minutes of audio from the Monday show in two parts. Steve & Garry are back from Christmas vacation.

Unfortunately, the audio quality is not the greatest. Part 1 suffers from a bad case of reverse print-through where the right channel on the other side of the tape has bled onto the this side playing in reverse. There is also a bit of skipping. It is quite annoying. Part 2 has a lot of popping and clicking.

Sometimes a blanket, a hot meal, or a new pair of warm socks is gift enough. Please consider how the change in your pocket might affect those less fortunate and please support whatever charities you are able to this Holiday Season. Times are tough for all of us, but if we’ve got internet access and a place to store MP3′s, we’re probably better off than many.

[REPOST] Steve & Garry – Xmas 1980

[REPOST] Does anyone know when Steve & Garry actually became “Steve & Garry”? At first, Garry Meier was just the overnight/news guy at The Loop and did news for Steve in the AM.

Here is a Steve & Garry show archive from just before Christmas of 1980 on WLUP. Steve still has the network and the network break sound is the jingle bells. The show is still named The Steve Dahl Breakfast Club.

Remember the whips? Steve got a porn tape of  a man being whipped to climax and started playing it on his show. (This is before the internet and VCR’s and DVD’s)
