This Christmas show is from Friday, December 23, 1983 when S&G were on WLS-FM.

This may be one you want to skip after reading the post but I left it in due to the historic value. The entire 7:45 is an All My Children Update.

When Steve did the morning show, afterward, he would go home and watch AMC. When he moved to afternoons at WLS, Steve would mention that he missed AMC.

Enter Mark Czerniec who was known as “Mark from Kenosha”. He began calling the show in 1981 and playing wacky tapes. This turned into the daily job of creating the AMC Update for several years. The update was very detailed, this one lasting over 6 minutes.

This was a very popular feature as working folks who couldn’t watch AMC during the day would tune in during the 6 o’clock hour to hear the update. Not everyone had a VCR in 1983.

So if you are interested in what happened on AMC on 12/23/1983 you will love this…

Jane was the cleaning lady at WLS and was a regular on the show. There was a slight language barrier so S&G could make jokes she wouldn’t understand.

So, check out the list of junk prizes for the WLS Holiday give-away. You can find most this stuff at the local Goodwill store. A black & white TV!! It’s almost 1984! I’m amazed at how much of this stuff is obsolete 25 years later.
